Jan Boyesen Øresund Logistics
This study gives cases on practical examples of “Supply chain integration and intelligent logistics” with special emphasis on maritime logistics. The cases show how industry is evolving and adopting new concepts in their logistics and Supply Chain Management (SCM) operations.
This first version of the consolidation study describes the case of Toyota Logistics Services Sweden AB and Copenhagen Malmö Port AB (CMP) and their cooperation towards Supply Chain Integration. Through a combination of centralization of the distribution for the Nordic and Baltic countries at CMP, combined with logistics and production postponement, Toyota has achieved significantly reductions in their total logistics costs. Toyota has reduced stock costs, risks of losses due to outdated car models on the stock and furthermore reduced the average lead time from the hub at CMP to the final customer.
In the following version of this consolidation study other cases will also be described.
