The aim of the project was to develop freight movement technologies to enable the interoperability of transport between railways with different gauge widths. The following tasks were realised during the project:
(1) elaboration of theoretical track layouts and switching station operational technology development of a prototype;
(2) construction of a tank car equipped with adjustable wheel sets construction of a track gauge changing station and the equipment used to operate it.
The project was funded under the FP6 Programme and ended in 2007. It increased the possibility for a shift from road to rail of some of the transport of dangerous goods.
