This action comprises the Viestura-Meza interchange which will connect the Riga port cargo terminals located on the right bank of river Daugava with TEN-T roads E22, E67, E77. It is a key project for providing a safe and reliable passage through the city of Riga, reducing the negative environmental and transport effects in the historical (UNESCO) city centre.
The Viestura-Meza interchange is the northern part of the eastern motorway that connects to the Viestura prospect. The project intends to construct 0.7 km of interchange over the Meza prospect and connect it to the Viestura prospect with 2x2 lines road of 0.6 km. In total, the project comprises a length of 1.3 km.
After realisation of these segments, the eastern motorway will serve as the main route for all port bound traffic, as well as serve as the city's inner bypass for all transit traffic.
